St. Mark’s Montessori School was established in 1968 by the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church as a non-profit organization.
The church’s intent was to offer the surrounding community a high quality educational opportunity for their children. The curriculum is authentically Montessori, while Christian principles are observed. Before and After Care (BAC) was added in 1975 to meet the growing needs of the families.
“Montessori” is not a trademark or a franchise: any institution can claim it offers a Montessori education. How do you know if your child is receiving an authentic Montessori education?
Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) was formed in 1929 by Dr. Maria Montessori to ensure that her philosophy and approach to education would be carried on as she intended. It is recognized as the leading authority on Montessori education. A school or teacher training program that carries the AMI name is continuing the tradition of quality first established by Dr. Montessori. The training consists of graduate level classes and practicum designed to effectively transition trainees to professional Montessori educators for your children.
